FIRST FEATURE
So, I’ve been talking about this for days on social media but I want to share here as well!
I was interviewed for my FIRST FEATURE ARTICLE and the post went live this week! Jhenene from Thriftierside.com reached out me in December and asked to feature me on her blog — a destination for the budget-conscious fashion lover and a space for highlighting women of color making strides in the fashion world. I immediately jumped on the opportunity and told her yes, of course! So, we set a date in January and finally met up in the middle of a light snowstorm, at a coffee shop on the Lower East Side. We chatted about life as a blogger, staying consistent on social media, trying to thrive in NYC and the lack of representation in the fashion industry. It was such a fulfilling, fruitful conversation and Jhenene did a great job of capturing my POV (that’s a direct quote from one of my friends after reading the article and I totally agree!). In other news, I’ve decided to buy a backdrop and start utilizing my tripod more often to create video content. I’m realizing that Youtube honestly is the place to be. So many bloggers gain subscribers/followers by building up their repertoire of video content and I want in! I’m tired of IG hiding my posts from my followers and having terrible engagement every few weeks for no apparent reason. So, it’s time to branch out and try something new. Just need to find the time and energy, that’s all lol. Blogging and posting on social media is already time-consuming enough so we’ll see where I can fit something else in. Do you have any Youtube tips? I’m going to do some research and try to figure out the right formula. Here goes nothing! Wish me luck. ;)
By the way, this is one of the goals that I wrote out for 2020 yesterday. I finally got a chance to write them out and take a minute to think about what I want out of this year. I wrote down some pretty lofty goals for the blog/brand and I’m looking forward to working towards making them a reality.
