#NYFW - F/W 2020

Well friends, another Fashion Week has come and gone.

I’ll be honest, this one seemed a little less exciting than the last one in Sept (Spring/Summer). For starters, the shows I attended in Sept were just better quality overall and there way so many opportunities to sip/shop, stop by a cute pop-up or just feel immersed in the fashion week spirit even if you didn’t go to many shows. This time around, it felt like A LOT of the high profile bloggers/influencers that I follow didn’t even bother participating at all. Or, in some instances, they went to 2-3 shows and then focused their attention elsewhere during the rest of the week — a few were on vacation, one girl was focusing on wedding planning, etc. In years past, #NYFW was the highlight of the social calendar for every true fashionista. I actually read an article on Refinery29 that dives into this conundrum. Is NYFW dying? Does it need a revitalization? Are the showings in other cities (namely, Paris and Milan) more important nowadays? The article actually explained how Tom Ford — who’s recently been appointed as the Chairman of the CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) — decided to host his star-studded, highly anticipated F/W 2020 show in Los Angeles, instead of NY this season. This very calculated move actually inadvertently took some of the big fashion editors and celebs away from the first few days of #NYFW considering travel time from coast to coast. And of course, the Oscars are also happening during the same weekend so there were many stars that decided to stay in LA and prep for Hollywood’s biggest night.

It’s an interesting topic to consider. And one I’ve been contemplating since I started my fashion week festivities this year. I’m not at the point in my blogging career where I’m afforded the opportunity to go the shows of high end, ultra popular designers {yet! I’m speaking this into existence though}. But I have been able to see some cool shows and go to some cool events so far. So, my perspective is still one of gratitude at this point. Just to have the opportunity to be in the mix and witness such beautiful clothing — on the runway and on the onlookers in the audience of these shows — still makes my heart skip a beat. So, I’ll still be partaking in the festivities for the foreseeable future. But I wonder, has #NYFW lost it’s sparkle? What say you?

In terms of the lewk, I have to say…I’m proud of this one. ;) I’ve been wanting to do a black/white pattern mix for a while now but I tried it a few times with different types of black/white stripes and it never really worked the way I envisioned. So, I was ecstatic when I put all of these pieces together and the look felt harmonious and cohesive. The pieces are all mostly old, except the new houndstooth coat from Shein that I’m mildly obsessed with lol. Let me know what you think! I’d love to hear your thoughts on how it came together. I also added some photos from a few of the shows below. I have a few more fashion week looks to recap so stay tuned. xoxo - Ashley

This guy asked to get a Boomerang of me and of course I had to check it out afterwards lol. I also had a few photogs getting shots of me and a videographer interviewed me for YouTube. I’ll be sure to post the links if I ever see any of these things!…
