For some reason, I haven't talked much about my roots on the blog just yet but I'm a PROUD TEXAN.
I like to say that Texans are a lot like New Yorkers. They're OBSESSED with their hometown/state and usually don't think that anywhere else can compare. Texas really could be it's own country. It's huge, heavily populated and has a distinct culture. I'm a native Houstonian who migrated to Dallas with my parents at the age of 13. I attended some of junior high in Dallas and all of high school. My whole family (on both sides) lives in Dallas since my parents are originally from there. So my Texas roots are pretty deep. With that said, when I saw this cute little crop top at H&M, I couldn't pass it up!
For yesterday's shoot, I decided to pair the crop top with a Mr. T-esque gold chain link necklace from Target, some wide leg jeans from Bebe, my Panama hat from H&M and my trusty Nine West suede lace up sandals. I also brought along my birthday present from my parents, this amazing rose gold travel bag. The bag came from Neiman Marcus Last Call.
Jackie and I traipsed to Chinatown in search of a few murals I saw online. In the midst of our search, we snapped some photos on Doyers St -- a little closed off alley filled with vibrant colors, Asian restaurants and tourists snapping pics lol. It's highly likely that I'm probably in a few random shots taken by Scandinavian strangers. Afterwards, we stopped at a nearby beer garden and then got bubble tea and gelato. It was really the perfect NYC summer day! I love days that aren't planned to the "T" but somehow end up being so fun and fulfilling. ;)
Random SN: I'm pretty sure A$AP Rocky tried to holla at me while I was rushing to the subway. I didn't look back to double check but the glimpse I caught looked like him. Now, I'm thinking I might've missed my chance to live my best life as a superstar's girlfriend in the limelight. SMH. Next time, I'll be sure to turn around. Ha! XO - Ash
